The last few days and this week promise to be a very eventful stretch in the world of sports, especially the ones I’m tuning in to. Last night’s Liverpool-Portsmouth encounter was one hell of a game (Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres made sure it was exciting until the very end; on a side note, Steven Gerrard was out), Amare Stoudemire’s being shopped around the league surprised me (but yes, it makes sense to do it now; I’ve been discussing with Boboy some possible trade scenarios but I just found out Chad Ford already had something like that), there’s another great game coming up in a few hours when the Cavaliers take on the Lakers (the two best ballers in the world leading the two best teams in each conference in the NBA meet today in a heads-up at the Quicken Loans Arena), the Bobcats trade “Shaggy” Morrison (and “Who is” Shannon Brown) for the Lakers’ Vladimir Radmanovic, B.J. Penn accepts a potential third bout with Georges St. Pierre following his allegations that the latter fighter’s camp applied a greasing agent on St. Pierre’s body (Vaseline petroleum jelly) that made it extremely hard for Penn to grapple his opponent, LeBron and Kobe score a gazillion points each at the most famous arena in the world, and Joe Calzaghe retires with an unblemished record.

Now, if only a West Ham United victory over Manchester United would complete this great week in sports news. Oh, and a note to Stevie:

Steve Kerr: How about shopping *him* first?

Steve Kerr: How about shopping *him* first?

Sorry. I just can’t help it.
