Ako Mismo: Take Action for Yourself.

Because if Manny can do it, so can I.
In a world of causes to support, it’s time to make a stand for your own. AkoMismo.org, whose ads were shown on national TV during the Manny Pacquiao bout, encourages Filipinos to make a stand against apathy, to take action for whatever cause they believe in.
It’s a refreshing campaign because it relies on the strength of an individual to make a stand for his own. You join by putting up your own commitment, by rallying for your own standards. Me? I do it for myself, because in the grander scheme of things, I’ll consequently be pulling everyone up.
If you see their Wall of Commitments, the response is staggering: more than 20,000 quality commitments and counting. “Ako mismo ang gagawa ng aking kapalaran.” “Ako mismo ang magtataguyod sa pamilya ko.” “Ako mismo hindi magsasawalang-bahala sa mga nangyayari sa lipunan, aayusin ang sarili ko para maging isang mabuting mamamayan.” “Ako mismo babantayan ko ang aking boto.”
Perhaps their ad placement on the Pacquiao-Hatton bout was right on target: the Filipino mindset while watching Manny’s fights is (99%) united, and there’s no mushier time to get into the Filipino spirit.
