Spaghetti Journal: Fazoli’s.
Saturday, November 7, 2009 17:18I’m starting off my Spaghetti Journal with a lunch visit to one of my favorite places here at Eastwood City: a small restaurant called Fazoli’s. The first time I visited Fazoli’s was about five years ago, back when I was still in college. Eastwood back then looked different, and I think it still wasn’t the BPO hub it is now.
Anyway, I went on and ordered what I came for: their good old, standard Spaghetti with Meatballs. A regular plate costs 95 pesos, while the large plate which I got costs 140 bucks.
The sauce was just the way I remembered it: not sweet, and with just the right texture. They serve it with three meatballs, which tasted a bit sour (perhaps because of the sauce) and juicy. I really love their standard pasta that I confess it’s the only thing I order from them every time I visit their store.
Another good thing about Fazoli’s is that their drinks (soda and iced tea) are bottomless (50 pesos) and that you can request for extra bread (I mean the bread sticks that come with the pasta) all you can. I like places where you can refill your own drink, and Fazoli’s is one of the few remaining places that allow their customers to do that.
Also, because there are a lot of scheduled night shows at the Eastwood Central Plaza (just across Fazoli’s), their customers get to experience events and concerts a lot. From the seats outside, customers get to see part of the stage and hear everything. It’s a bonus most of the other restaurants can’t brag about.
The verdict. I’m giving their Spaghetti with Meatballs a rating of 8 out of 10, by virtue of the food itself and the place. Fazoli’s still ranks as one of my favorite Italian fast food joints.
(The Spaghetti Journal is a two-week long hunt for the best good old spaghetti recipe at the Fort Bonifacio area and Eastwood City, where the author works and lives, respectively.)

Fazoli: Extra bread sticks all you can FTW!
Even if I work in Eastwood, I don’t frequent Fazoli that often anymore compared to before (mas marami na choices now, I guess). Pero I still like their pesto chicken and the strawberry-lemon drink (not sure if they still serve the strawbery/lemon slush drink nowadays).

@Menard: Yeah, Eastwood’s now chock-full of restaurants that it’s kind of confusing, thinking about where to eat. (That’s one problem I don’t mind having, though!)
