Kenny Rogers Roasters Market! Market!

Kenny Rogers Roasters Market! Market!

Sure, it’s given that Kenny Rogers Roasters doesn’t specialize in great pasta. It also happens to be one of my favorite places to go to when I want chicken, and about the only place I’d go to whenever I crave for roasted chicken. (Or corn muffins.) That said, let me tell you about this afternoon’s lunch trip to Kenny Rogers Roasters (Market! Market! branch) where I decided to continue my search for the best pasta place at the Fort and at Eastwood City.

Spaghetti with meatballs (and a corn muffin).

Spaghetti with meatballs (and a corn muffin).

The one thing that sets Kenny Rogers Roasters apart from other restaurants is that they serve their spaghetti with a piece of their now-famous corn muffins. And I don’t know why I’m saying that first because everything goes downhill from there. The spaghetti’s not very good, and it doesn’t taste like the 99 bucks’ worth of pasta it is.

It actually tastes a lot like McSpaghetti (which is the standard pasta offering at McDonald’s, but you already knew that), complete with hotdog bits and sweet sauce and all. So would you pay for a 99-peso McSpaghetti with one corn muffin? I won’t.

Muffins.

Muffins.

I really want to talk about the muffin again now because it’s the meal’s only saving grace, but now that I think of it, I think I’ll just recommend you, dear reader, to buy your corn muffins at Kenny Rogers Roasters and score your spaghetti somewhere else.

Todays lunch is at KRR Market! Market!

Today's lunch is at KRR Market! Market!

How do I describe its taste in one word? Forgettable. Because you don’t want to remember the taste again, unless you want to warn and remind yourself not to go for pasta but just opt for roasted chicken the next time.

The verdict. Because I considered eating spaghetti at McDonald’s before I decided to try out Kenny Roger Roasters’ pasta, I feel bad about spending 99 pesos on a McSpaghetti rip-off. If not for the corn muffin, I’d score this lower, but it was there on my plate, so I’m giving Kenny Rogers Roasters’ Spaghetti with Meatballs a rating of 5 out of 10.

Their wall doesnt brag about their spaghetti.

Their wall doesn't brag about their spaghetti.

(The Spaghetti Journal is a two-week long hunt for the best good old spaghetti recipe at the Fort Bonifacio area and Eastwood City, where the author works and lives, respectively.)

The picture of the spaghetti just looks sad…

@Carlos: It didn’t help that it really looked sad when it sat there in front of me. And it doesn’t help that I’m no good at taking food shots yet. And it doesn’t help that I don’t have an LX3 to make me look like a better photographer! Gaddeym!

Since you mentioned McSpaghetti, I got a tip for you. You can ask any McDo crew to add extra sauce and cheese whenever you buy one and it’s for free. You’ll definitely enjoy it and will get the real value of your money.

@Pat: I’ve heard that before about the burgers. I didn’t know you could do that with McSpaghetti, as well. Will try that out sometime.
