TOSH at Market! Market!

TOSH at Market! Market!

When spaghetti-joint-hopping, there are a few places at the Fort Bonifacio and Eastwood City areas you can’t skip, like Sbarro, Fazoli’s, Italianni’s, and The Old Spaghetti House. So it’s kind of mandatory that I visit the TOSH branch at Market! Market!

I’m not a fan, but I know they serve good pasta at TOSH. They have to. They’re TOSH, after all.

And theyre online.

And they're online.

I’m a bit guilty about something here. The past visits to TOSH had been eat-and-run experiences, and I didn’t really try to enjoy my food. I used to just come in, order, wolf down my food, and leave. That’s probably because that’s the way I eat at home, and this place feels so much like home.

Spaghetti with Meatballs.

Spaghetti with Meatballs.

For lunch today, I ordered Spaghetti with Meatballs (again, and I’m not sick of it yet); I was tempted to try out the different offerings they had on the menu but I really wanted lunch to be like how it would be at home (because whenever my mom cooks pasta, it can only mean one of two things: with meat sauce and meatballs, or with olive oil and beef).

The spaghetti was good, but I had a small problem with the meatballs. I think they undercooked it a bit, but it didn’t matter much because I was so hungry that I almost felt like wolfing everything down and just leaving the building again. That didn’t happen, and the meatballs didn’t bother me much, anyway, at least not this afternoon.

Feels homey enough to be called a house.

Feels homey enough to be called a house.

The place feels comfortable enough to be called a house; minor details such as the wall decorations add to the feeling that you’re dining at home. And I like the cozy sight of brown everywhere. The look is as consistent as the taste of the food they offer, at least from what I remember from my previous visits.

The verdict. The sauce was terrific but the meatballs were not so; remembering how my mom cooked pasta at home, though, made me think that, hey, it happens. So, it may not be the best spaghetti with meatballs on this side of the metropolis, but it’s good enough for me to give it a rating of 7.5 out of 10.

(The Spaghetti Journal is a two-week long hunt for the best good old spaghetti recipe at the Fort Bonifacio area and Eastwood City, where the author works and lives, respectively.)

So true, the place looks like it has a very homey feeling to it. One of the most important part of fine dining, good food and good ambience & good company of friends I might add. And since you mention that your mum cooks delicious spaghetti meatballs, I hope I have the chance to taste it when I’m there! Heehe. ;p

@Eudora: Sadly, my mom haven’t been cooking a lot of pasta recently; for some reason, she’s been stuck with canned food, damn it.

We’ve tried their Paseo de Roxas branch located in a quiant stoned building near Greenbelt 1 (sad they’re not there anymore) and the rustic environment just added to the so-homey feeling whenever you’re inside. Had their fettucine classic carbonara and spaghetti bolognese and a round of pizza. We really did enjoy the food especially the carbonara which we’re dying to try again soon.

I’m a pasta enthusiast myself. T’was nice to meet you! :)
