Pimping the Puny iPod Nano and PS3 Buys.

Shure headphones.

Shure headphones.

I wasn’t able to take into account, when I bought that stupid iPod Nano, that it looked puny, cheap, and bare, so this afternoon, I decided to pimp it a bit by buying a Capdase leather protective case and huge Shure SRH240 headphones (er, to compensate for the Nano’s size; quite missing the point, I know, but I plan on using the headphones on other players, as well).

And we also pulled the trigger on spending on PlayStation 3 games. Since we lost our copy of Borderlands a few weeks back to mishandling (the disc cracked), I was stuck with playing NBA Live 10, nothing else. We decided to expand our game library by buying five new games (and one to replace the cracked Borderlands disc):

New games!

New games!

Just a few notes on the games we bought:

1. Little Big Planet. This game was originally intended for Jules, but given the critical acclaim the title has garnered from gamers, publishers, and websites, I myself am now looking forward to trying it out again (I’ve played it once at John’s, but I think it’ll be really fun when three players play together). Maybe later this afternoon.

2. Soul Calibur IV. Jason always buys these fighting games (first, Tekken 6, next, Street Fighter IV, and now, this). I’ll probably not pick up the controller to play it save for the sake of just trying it out.

3. Borderlands. A replacement disc.

4. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Jules seemed to have really loved Ultimate Alliance on PlayStation 2, and since the title supports three-player cooperative games, we thought we’d get it.

5. FIFA 10. My first pick. Every FIFA game I’ve played (except for FIFA 08 on the Nintendo DS) was really good, and there was no way I’d pass up on PlayStation 3’s Sports Game of the Year. If only EA Sports made basketball games this good.

6. Demon’s Souls. My second pick. I’m thinking that hey, this had just been selected as GameSpot’s PS3 Game of the Year: a no-brainer, right? And, I really wanted to buy an RPG. And, Atlus had something to do with it. Win-win-win.

Jason and Jules also decided to buy a new controller, just so we can play three-player cooperative games (for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and Little Big Planet). We previously only had two basic controllers.

The new red controller.

The new red controller.

That’s it. I promise to hang on to the rest of my cash until mid-January. Damn lah.
