Goodbye, Eastwood. Hello Again, Antipolo.
Sunday, February 7, 2010 15:15After staying for a little more than three months in Eastwood City because of the floods brought about by Ondoy late last year, we’re finally back in Antipolo. We moved back a week ago, and the first thought I had when I stepped back into this house for the first time in three months was: I fucking miss the comfort of living right next to a mall.
Just being two minutes away from Eastwood Mall had a bounty of perks, especially with my lifestyle at work. I could easily select from more than five or six coffeeshops whenever I was in the mood to work outside the office. A movie theater was almost just right next to my room, and why should I wait for HBO to show it when I could care less if I wanted to watch a new movie alone? Food-tripping was not a problem: dozens of restaurants were scattered around the mall and the Eastwood City Walk. Of course, there was that special privilege of having easy access to all the concerts, gigs, and events mounted there.
But, come to think of it, there’s something I’d rather have than all of that. Living in a quiet urban village paces you down, and it’s especially useful when life in the fast lane threatens to derail your sanity daily.
Now, if I only had my fucking car back, life would be exactly the way it was before Ondoy.
