Umberto Eco’s Foucault’s Pendulum.
You got me. I bought the book because on page 34 of my copy, a couple of lines read:
90 IF I3 = I2 THEN 120
100 LET I4 = 10 – (I1 + I2 + I3)
Cool. I missed this now-outdated programming language. But yeah, the book has so much more outside this primitive language. What’s the story about again, by the way?
