PLDT MyDSL's Ultra Broadband Blowout!

From today until Sunday, November 15, 2009, PLDT MyDSL will be having an Ultra Broadband Blowout at the SM Mall of Asia Main Mall Atrium (in front of French Baker at the ground floor). I’ll be there tomorrow!

Jane Chua of Between Bites got there first, and though I didn’t seem like it (I was so busy trying to help out with the registration and logistics), I was really excited to finally meet her.

Hannah!

Of course, Hannah Villasis of FlairCandy.com was there. She really wanted to sing No Doubt’s Underneath it All during the Rockeoke segment, but the band didn’t seem to know how to play it, so she went up on stage and sang the Kings of Leon’s Sex on Fire! Damn, was she smoking and she really did get the crowd pumped up for their own stints on the microphone!

Rhian!

Bombshell-in-the-making Rhian Ramos was also there, and she sang a Rockeoke staple (the usual night-ender, but not last night): U2’s With or Without You. As expected, her performance got people leaving their seats and standing right in front of the stage for a closer look. I could only watch from a distance, drooling. Okay, maybe that’s a tad bit too much.

Drey!

Ah, and TribalDDB was well-represented by Cyprus Malinao and Drey David, who sang the New Radicals’ Someday We’ll Know. Nice one! Their performance got me recalling those weird moments when Cyp would, out of the blue, burst into singing some random tune back from our ZenithOptimedia days. Well, last night he brought his performance out on stage for everyone to see.

Alodia!

Who could miss the presence of Alodia Gosiengfiao at the event? I was actually looking forward to meeting her in person but by the time she got there, I already had my hands full with dealing with the event program and I really didn’t have much freedom to move around and meet people. Too bad for me.

The event was highlighted by PLDT MyDSL Watchpad demos and giveaways. They gave away this really nice wristband/USB flash drive, lots of prizes, and Watchpad kits so the bloggers could experience firsthand this new technology PLDT introduced last night.

The event was hosted by racer and model Pia Boren, who did a solid job of keeping the program flow in check. Marcus Evans and Jay Durias were also there to perform!

Uh, that's me, and "I don't belong here."

It was a great night, and I just couldn’t let it pass by without me getting my turn on the mic, singing Radiohead’s Creep (again!). I was kind of hoping that going up on stage to sing would encourage the other bloggers to have their turns, as well. I guess it served it purpose, as Marcelle, Hannah, and Az followed to sing their songs in front of a rather large crowd given that it’s a Thursday night and there still was a busy Friday to look forward to after the event.

Overall, I think the event was great. Many thanks again to PLDT MyDSL Watchpad for the night and soon I’ll be checking out the coverage (which was recorded and will be shown as part of the archived events on Watchpad) soon!

Cheap-enough steaks.

We had lunch yesterday at Slice n’ Dice after I got my external HDD from Gilmore, and on our way back to the office, I got word that the press conference was pushing through and I had to rush there to cover it! I quickly packed all my stuff and raced to the Ortigas Home Depot to attend the conference and the drifting demo.

Drift car.

The press conference was attended by professional racer Gaby dela Merced, actor Ryan Agoncillo, multiple-time drifting champion Alex Reyes, and Japan’s fastest and most successful drifter, Nobuteru Taniguchi, among other personalities.

And out.

There was a drifting demo following the press conference, and after a few of the drivers had their turns behind the wheel, they asked if anybody wanted to try riding a drift car. Carlos volunteered after hesitating for a bit, and with none other than Alex Reyes on the driver’s seat, they took off and took the car for a literal spin.

Truth is, I wanted to ride the drift car, as well, but hey, it’s not like I walked away from the event with nothing.

Needless to say, soaked as I was from the rain, I went home happy with this single photo.
