It’s one of the simple perks of what I do at work: I get to visit really interesting places, and Unitel is definitely one of those. Just a couple of weeks after I got introduced to the world of indie film-making, there I was at the Unitel office working on something (not exactly film-making, but with Unitel, nonetheless).

I don't know what this is for. Probably a TVC.

Unitel is one of our local production houses: they were responsible for Crying Ladies, Santa Santita, and Inang Yaya. Their name might not be as resounding as that of Viva’s or Star Cinema’s or GMA Films’, but they’ve already proven that they can compete with these higher profile groups. Just check the awards these previously-mentioned films have garnered (add five Production House of Year awards from 4As and various recognitions from advertising bodies, for which body of work they’re more known for), and you’ll know that they take their work seriously.

Sigh. I wanted to work in a place like this before. (Maybe Cinemalaya’s the first step, who fucking knows?)
